Related parties (continued) (b) Investment in subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures Accounting policies Subsidiaries are all those entities which the Group controls. Control exists if the Group has: – Power over the investee (i.e. ability to direct the relevant activities of the investee); – Exposure, or rights, to variable returns from its involvement with the investee; and – The ability to use its power over the investee to affect its returns. The Group re-assesses whether or not it controls an investee if facts and circumstances indicate that there are changes to one or more of the three elements of control. Subsidiaries are fully consolidated from the date on which control is obtained by the Group and cease to be consolidated from the date on which control is transferred out of the Group. A change in ownership interest of a subsidiary that does not result in a loss of control is accounted for as an equity transaction. The Financial Statements of subsidiaries are prepared for the same reporting period as the parent company, with the exception of certain Asian entities with a financial reporting period ending 31 December and Elara Group with a financial reporting period ending 31 March. All subsidiaries apply consistent accounting policies to their Financial Statements. The consolidated Financial Statements incorporate the assets, liabilities and results of the following subsidiaries and associates of REA Group Ltd as at 30 June 2021 in accordance with the above accounting policy.
